R. Dodge, statistician, was read by the secretary : "I desire to keep a record in this Bureau of the cash prices of various commodities in our principal mar kets on the first trading day oi each month. I propose sending a circular to the officers of the Boards of Trade, Chambers of Commerce, and other commercial organizations, with the request that they fill in the price for their markets. Can I count on the co-operation of your body? If you are willing to aid us, please indicate the difterent grades of such of the following articles as are principally dealt in on your market : Wheat, spring and winter ; com, oats, rye. barley, flour, potatoes, hay, beef, pork, butter, cheese, cotton, tobacco and wool" The Chamber granted the use of its rooms to the Young Men's Liter ary Uub, to bold semi-montbly meetings. It met last Thursday, with the following minis ters in attendance: Rev. .W. R. Wetmore, Dean : Rev. A. Craves, Rev. E. A. Osborne end Rev. S. P. Walters. Other ministers arrived later. The Landmark says that the attendance was smaller than usual on account of various causes of neces sary detention of the members. A devotional exercise with religious in structions for the clergy, called a re treat, was conducted by the dean at 9 o'clock in the morning. Morning prayer was held at 11 o'clock. Rev, Mr. Graves preached, and the Holy Communion was celebrated by the dean, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Osborne. A business meeting was held in the afternoon when the subject of schools was discussed, and a resolu tion offered instructing the commit tee on schools to recommend a suitable locality for a school for boys and also one for girls, and also to recommend suitable persons for tak ing cha.-ge oi them. This committee to report to a meeting to be held in May at Henderson. Services were held at night when the dean preach ed. Services and preaching will take place each day during Convoca-; don at tl A. M., and 7 P. M. All j are cordially invited to attend.
